I’m not going to pretend that I’m the most crafty gal on the block, but since we moved to a neighborhood that is within a two-mile radius of four arts and craft stores (I am not kidding, count ‘em: Michael’s, JoAnn’s, Blick Art & Craft, Hobby Lobby), I have reluctantly embraced the DIYer way of life.
These magnets look adorable on my fridge, and would also be a cute gift for a friend. Even better, they were incredibly easy to make (even for a novice crafter like me!) and require minimal supplies: decorative glass gems, craft glue, a circular paper punch
, magnets
and an old magazine (or any publication to punch small images from). I originally intended to use images from pieces of scrapbook paper for the magnets, but I ended up preferring the look of random text pulled from a magazine.

Oh, I’ve made many of these over the years! Although I’m aware it’s a lot less efficient, I do think it looks a lot better (and less chunkier) to use magnetic sheets instead of the big round magnets – the end product isn’t as strong though it’s enough to say… hold a piece of paper or two on your fridge and it looks adorable. Great tutorial! xx

Thanks so much for the input, I’m going to have to try it with the sheets. Especially if given as a gift, the less chunky look would be beneficial for sure. Love your idea!

I made these for my friend. He’s a Steeler’s fan. I used some old gift wrap paper and they turned out great. I used the round chunky magnets, looks great on his fridge!

Hi Katrina! That is a great idea! I’m glad they came out so well. Maybe I’ll have to put some together with a Redskins theme for el-Hubs.
