Curls N Pearls

Mani Monday: GelColor by OPI in Passion (Photo/Swatch)

I’ve had a great time experimenting with GelColor by OPI (see here, here and here). After testing out several colors, I’ve decided that OPI’s addition to the gel/hybrid nail polish block to be a worthy competitor to CND Shellac, another manicure favorite of mine.

Launched in January 2012, GelColor by OPI premiered with 28 classic OPI shades, including fan favorites such as I’m Not Really a Waitress, Lincoln Park After Dark, and You Don’t Know Jacques. For today’s post I took OPI’s Passion for a test drive. I am loving the chic and natural elegance of this soft pink shade – a truly timeless choice suitable for any day, regardless of the season, style or trends.

Have you tried GelColor by OPI yet? Is there a shade that you’d like to see in a future Mani Monday post? Please share in the comments below! :)

I am really excited to see a color that I can wear for the duration of the longevity of the GelColor product. That color I can wear to work and it should not show the wear and tear like typical nail polishs. Plus like you said the color will not clash with any of my outfits. Thanks!

Good morning – you may also like Bubble Bath. It is quite similar. Shellac has several light pinks/nudes that you may like (Romantique, Beau, Moonlight & Roses, etc.)

Do you find that removal is just as easy as Shellac? I’m a new manicure DIY-er and I chose Shellac to start with since all of the YouTube videos I watched showed how easy removal was. When I watched Gelish or Axxium removal videos, it didn’t seem so easy or healthy on the nails. What are your thoughts on Gelcolor removal? Thanks!

Hi Molly! I find that the removal for GelColor by OPI is very similar to Shellac. You have to soak your nails a bit longer, but it comes of quite easily – sometimes even easier than Shellac. I did read that if you leave GelColor by OPI on your nails for more than two weeks it can be more difficult to remove. I tried Axxium when I first started doing my nails and absolutely hated it. I would not recommend Axxium at all. I hope this is helpful!

Hi Brenda! Thanks so much! What a nice comment. :) I have not yet tried A Grape Fit, but it definitely caught my eye last time I was browsing the colors. I’d love to hear what you think of it. :) Please check back on Mondays for more colors, I plan to continue Mani Mondays. Thanks again!
