Lady Gaga murmurs “mint will be big in fashion next spring” in her video for Marry the Night – and here’s hoping she’s right. Today’s Mani Monday features Navigate Her, a lovely sea-foam green from Essie’s Spring/Summer 2012 line. Green isn’t usually a shade I gravitate towards when it comes to my nails, but the muted shade of Navigate Her has won me over.

It also reminds me of my sweet grandmother. One of her favorite stories to tell–and one of my favorite to hear–was of when she was in her twenties and chose to wear green nail polish to match a green dress and hat. Considering that nail polish was a relatively recent invention, her green nails were an avant-garde choice, which perfectly reflects her personality and charisma. She was a truly amazing woman and is dearly missed. I hope she can see my green nails from Heaven.
