Curls N Pearls

New From Suave Professionals: Waterless Foam Shampoo (REVIEW)

I’m a big fan of Suave. Since the release of the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion line, I’ve been impressed with the products I have tried: Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo and the Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-In Conditioner.

When it comes to dry shampoos, I’ve tried many sprays and powders, as I’m a big fan of squeezing in an extra day or two when it comes to a blowout. I’ll admit I was skeptical–but still excited–to try the Suave Professionals Waterless Foam Shampoo. As the name indicates, it’s technically a “waterless” (aka dry) shampoo, but a dry shampoo in the form of foam? The skeptical side of me wondered how foam could revive (or improve the appearance of) dirty hair without weighing it down and/or leaving additional residue.

With nothing to lose except my greasy roots, I gave the Suave Waterless Foam Shampoo a try. I hadn’t washed my hair for two days, and I’ll just say that it was sufficiently disgusting enough to provide a fair testing basis for this review.

Here’s what Suave has to say about the Waterless Foam Shampoo:

“This waterless foam shampoo, with aloe leaf and jojoba, revives dry and curly hair between washes. No water needed.”

And Suave’s directions state:

“Pump foam 1-2 times into your hands. Spread product through dry hair, starting at the ends and working your way up the hair. Repeat if necessary. Absorb excess product with a towel. Helps to revive curls and moisture for smooth, tousled definition between washes.”

I followed the directions exactly, and decided to repeat as directed. The Waterless Foam Shampoo has a very pleasant, but not overpowering, scent. It feels very light once pumped, but I wasn’t crazy about how it felt when applied to my hair. The Waterless Foam Shampoo seemed to absorb some of the grease, but not as well as the Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo, of which I also prefer the feel and overall outcome.

While I think that the Waterless Foam Shampoo will work in a bind, I’ll stick with the Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo as my go-to. However, the Waterless Foam Shampoo could be a great solution for women with very thick, coarse, or curly hair. I think it is just a bit too heavy for my naturally straight (slightly wavy, depending on the day) hair.

Have you tried Suave’s new Waterless Foam Shampoo? I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially if you have super curly or coarse hair.
