Since its creation in 1889, the company Frownies has been an advocate for natural anti-aging solutions. I recently tried Frownies Eye Gel Treatment Patches. Used initially over three consecutive evenings and then once weekly, the patches are an “anti-wrinkle treatment for puffy bags under the eyes [that] contains powerful anti-oxidants that help protect your skin.” The goal is to diminish the appearance of dark circles and fine lines.
The patches are reusable (from my experience you should get 4-5 uses out of a pair), which is a plus. You simply store the patches in their tray in a Ziploc bag, and spray with Frownies Rose Water to keep the patches moist. Curls N Pearls Tip: Store the patches in the fridge before your first use. They are quite refreshing that way!
Using the patches is very simple; you just need to find thirty free minutes in the evening. One warning: You’re going to look funny, so this isn’t something I’d suggest breaking out in front of a new love interest over Skype.
To use, simply remove the tray of patches from the foil container and place one under each eye. “Once on the skin gently smooth out all the lines under the patch with the pad of your finger over top of the patch, so all areas of the skin are affected by the active ingredients.” It’s that easy! Wait thirty minutes, then remove and store the patches. Side note for contact lens wearers: I wear contact lenses, but I didn’t experience any issues. However, you may want to remove your contact lenses first if you have very sensitive eyes.
To be frank, I didn’t notice significant change after using the treatment over three nights. That’s not to say that I didn’t notice *any* change. My eyes looked brighter and “refreshed,” but the fine lines in my eye area were mostly unchanged.
About a week later, I used the patches once more as the directions state. Thirty minutes later I broke out my mega magnifying mirror to inspect the results. I have to say this time I was impressed. The fine lines around my eyes had noticeably diminished. I’m not sure why I hadn’t noticed any change until the fourth treatment, and I’m not sure if this experience is unique to me.
If you’re interested, I think the best deal is the Combo Rose Water Hydrator Spray & Eye Gel Patches at $35 for a 5-7 week supply. You need the hydrator spray to keep the patches moist and reusable. You can also use the spray to refresh your makeup throughout the day.
Final Verdict: The packaging isn’t glitzy, but that’s ok, because packaging doesn’t remedy fine lines. Frownies Eye Gels are a relatively low-cost product that helps to diminish the appearance of fine lines and dark circles. I’d especially recommend it prior to an important event.

I don’t find them comfortable unfortunately. I think I tried to wear them longer though.

Hi Marcia, thanks for commenting. I’m just curious – what did you find uncomfortable about the gel eye patches? I found the regular (non-gel) patches to be uncomfortable, but the gel patches didn’t bother me.
