Marc Anthony 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo (Review)

I’m a huge proponent of shampooing hair every other day, so I’m always eager to experiment when I come across a brand with a dry shampoo. I’ve tried what seems like an endless of dry shampoos from drugstore to salon brands – and I’ve found great options, and some that just aren’t for me. (You can see some of my past dry shampoo reviews here, here and here.)

Marc Anthony 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo is the newest addition to my temple of groom. The 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo was,

developed with Nanotechnology and Zeolite, a micro-porous mineral, to cleanse hair without a chalky residue or gritty texture. Its invisible, extra absorbent formula lets you remove excess oil, eliminate odor and add volume. It is perfect for all hair types, styles and colors to get beautifully fresh hair between washes. You no longer have to worry about greasy, flat hair between washes.

I have pretty normal hair. It’s long, highlighted and slightly wavy. So the most important qualities for a dry shampoo in my opinion are the ability to absorb oil, odor, boost volume, and NOT leave a chalky or sticky residue on my hair. I’m happy to tell you that Marc Anthony 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo does not disappoint in any of the above, and it’s a real bargain at the suggested retail price of $7.99-$8.99.

So why did I give it a 4.5 rating instead of a full 5? The reason for the half-point deduction will be a pro for some and possibly a con for others. Remember how I mentioned I highlight my hair? Well, most dry shampoos have some form of talc to aid in oil absorption, which reduces the greasy appearance of hair a day or two after shampooing. Since I lighten my hair, the talc serves an extra benefit for me – the light-colored talc formula help disguise the appearance of regrowth. Now, if I had dark hair the talc formula could be very obvious and even look like dandruff.

As the name states, Marc Anthony’s dry shampoo is clear. This is a great thing for women with dark hair! And it’s certainly not a deal breaker in the least for me. I love everything else about it, from the fresh scent to the volume and oil absorption. But if it’s close to the time when I need to get my highlights done, I may have to opt for a talc based dry shampoo.

So, Marc Anthony 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo may be a perfect fit for you if:

  • You have dark hair, and talc based dry shampoo isn’t for you
  • You love a good bargain
  • Getting a couple of days between shampooing is important
  • You want a dry shampoo that also boosts volume

I always use dry shampoo! it’s great for those in between days isn’t it? I find it helps when putting my hair up too, gives it a bit more texture. I usually get Fudge or Tigi from Hairtrade as that is the cheapest place you can get it at the moment x
