The hair bow: It looks like a bit of a task to create but in reality is really quite simple. It can be done in three easy steps and works remarkably well on straight, wavy or curly hair. The finish on each hair type looks quite different but equally quaint.  This look works well on many levels. It’s perfect for day functions as well as something a bit more formal. The trick is to keep it a little untidy so that it has a grown up finish. We like to show this in two different variations. The first has a ‘Gossip Girl’ pretty, casual vibe and the other is a bit more posh and proper.

HAIR BOW — HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

PRETTY CASUAL HALF UP
  1. Ponytail: First, add some texture to the hair with a bit of Beach Spray. Decide on your hair part and then separate two sections of hair from ear to ear over the crown. Pull both sides back and bind it with an elastic to create a half ponytail. Lightly spray the ponytail with Hairspray and gently back brush it.   2. Bunny Ears: Separate the pony into two sections. Take one section, bend it into a half oval shape and pin it in place. Repeat with the other section as if you are creating bunny ears.Ponytail Bow Hair Tutorial _MG_8444_edit2
  3. Wrap: Wrap the remaining piece of hair around the centre to create the middle of the bow and pin in place. Play with the bow a bit and, if you like, carefully spread it out to make it bigger. Spray lightly with Hairspray.Hair Bow How To Tutorial

Leaving the rest of the hair out gives this a relaxed finish and works really well with straight, waves or curls.

POSH AND PROPER

You can make this look dressy by taking the remaining hair that has been left out and creating another bow. Just repeat the same three steps: 1) Ponytail; 2) Bunny Ears; 3) Wrap. Adding another bow turns this into an updo that has a fresh modern take on your traditional updo’s. Nicole Richie’s Red Carpet Hair

Nicole Richie has inspired many with her hairstyles over the years – who can forget this gorgeous bob? She looked fabulous as usual at the Golden Globes, and Suave has shared how she achieved this look.

Designer and “Fashion Star” mentor Nicole Richie is rocking the red carpet tonight, with a little help from the NEW Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion products that add shine as well as salon brands.

Here’s how Suave Professionals® Stylist, Jenny Cho, created Nicole’s red carpet look:

  • Wash hair with New Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, and then blow dry hair using a large paddle brush.
  • Part hair on the side and begin curling with a one-inch barrel curling iron. Be sure to hold the curling barrel horizontal to the head.
  • After curling each section, use bobby pins to hold in place.
  • Blast hair all over with a hot dryer for 1-2 minutes to help set the curls.
  • Remove the bobby pins, lightly brush the hair to soften curls and finish with Suave Professionals® Touchable Finish Super Hold Hairspray.
