Flight-Friendly Beauty

Having just returned from a quick trip to visit with friends and family, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share with you some of my currently beauty favorites for travel. Traveling always offers a great time to experiment with new products since you only need a small amount to get you through a long weekend. For this trip I brought along some old favorites, and a handful of first-timers as well.

Skincare: Bioelements Travel Light for Combination Skin ($35)

This $35 kit is great if you are considering switching skin care lines, but you’re not ready to fully commit. Included in the kit are “preview” sizes of the Decongestant Cleanser, Equalizer (toner), Absolute Moisture, Pumice Peel, and Oil Control Sleepwear (my favorite nighttime moisturizer).

Haircare: Fekkai Advanced Travel Faves Brilliant Glossing ($43)

This Fekkai travel kit is definitely a splurge, but a worthy one to say the least. I have tried (and love) Fekkai’s glossing line. The fragrance is delicious and the shampoo, conditioner and serum provide serious smoothing and shine power. The Sheer Hold Hairspray is new to my beauty collection, and it doesn’t disappoint. Yes, the price on this travel kit is up there, but every once in a while a splurge here or there is completely acceptable, and even healthy. :)

Hairstyling: Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable Weightless Hairspray (price varies)

Always lured to hairspray like a moth to light, I picked up a travel size of this hairspray for our trip. I love light to medium hold when it comes to hairspray, and this is a great option for a lighter hold. (I was unable to find a link to the travel size version, apologies).

e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set [REVIEW]

Is there anything more frustrating than a makeup meltdown? You know how it goes: after carefully applying your makeup, you finally head out to face the day with confidence, until, a few hours later you catch a glimpse of your reflection. Whether it’s your skin’s texture, oiliness, or accidentally touching your face—your carefully applied makeup can easily fall victim to smudges and creasing, and ultimately diminish by lunchtime.

Since I’ve been so impressed with the quality and price of e.l.f. Brush Shampoo, I decided to give another e.l.f. product a test drive: e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set ($3). Here’s what e.l.f. has to say about Makeup Mist & Set:

The lightweight, comfortable and alcohol free formula improves makeup wearability and prevents color from running or fading.

Sounds pretty great, right? I have to admit though, the first couple of times I used Makeup Mist & Set I wasn’t that impressed. The spray mechanism delivered an inconsistent stream, there is a slightly unpleasant scent while the product dries, and most frustratingly it actually caused my mascara to smudge a bit.
