CND Shellac Summer Splash Collection Preview! Lobster Roll, Pink Bikini, Grape Gum, Water Park

CND Shellac Summer Splash Collection 2013 New - Lobster Roll - Grape Gum - Pink Bikini - Water Park

CND Shellac Summer Splash Collection Preview!

Lobster Roll, Grape Gum, Pink Bikini, Water Park

I was beyond surprised yesterday afternoon when upon stopping at my local Salon Centric I discovered CND has released four new shades of Shellac! The CND Shellac Summer Splash Collection includes four shades: Lobster Roll, Grape Gum, Pink Bikini, and Water Park. Although CND has not yet issued a press release officially announcing the new shades, here’s my impression of each shade:

Lobster Roll

Deep, vibrant red, without shimmer. Reminds me of OPI’s Big Apple Red.

Grape Gum

A shade that falls somewhere between violet and lilac, with plenty of shimmer.

Pink Bikini

A super vibrant hot magenta pink.

Water Park

A deep turquoise blue with silvery shimmer.

Lobster Roll appealed most to me, at least upon first glance, so that’s the only shade I’ve picked up so far. Stay tuned for swatches!

What are your thoughts on CND’s new Summer Splash Collection?

Shellac Layering Fun! CND Shellac Combo:

Limeade and Moonlight & Roses

I’m not sure why I’m so addicted, but when it comes to Shellac I’m addicted to layering/color combos. While I *love* all the shades in the Spring 2013 CND Shellac Sweet Dreams Collection, I can’t ever resist the urge to mix it up with layering. Pictured here are two coats of Shellac in Limeade, layered with one coat of Moonlight & Roses.

Additional fun layering option for Limeade would be Grapefruit Sparkle, (another member of the Shellac Spring 2013 lineup), Beau, Negligee, or Romantique.

If the green is a bit too much for you, it makes quite a difference to only apply one coat of each shade. You could also layer one coat of an opaque and plain shade (like Cityscape, Studio White, or Cream Puff).

Green is a bit out there for me, but I’m still a fan of this fun Shellac combo! What are you thoughts?

Mani Monday: CND Shellac Layering Combos – Iced Cappuccino and Vexed Violette

Hello lovelies! I hope that you had a fantastic weekend! For this week’s Mani Monday, I decided to mix it up, using a shade I haven’t worn for at least a year (Iced Cappuccino), layered under one of the newest shades – Vexed Violette. While the resulting shade is pretty, I have to admit that this wasn’t the easiest combo when it comes to applying the polish evenly. Basically, the foundation of Iced Cappuccino just isn’t that forgiving. It was easiest when I used almost as thin of a coat as possible with the Vexed Violette. Thoughts?
