In addition to a good and consistent skin care regime, the right makeup can make a huge difference when it comes to your appearance. I almost immediately feel better about myself with a quick swipe  of foundation and application of mascara. I’m a self-professed makeup junkie, so I’ve tried countless foundations over the years. When it comes to foundation, I prefer medium coverage, liquid, with SPF, and not too oily (since I have combination/oily skin). Here are my favorite foundations that I keep returning to time and time again.

Favorite Foundation Recommendations

Chanel Perfection Lumiere ($55) Lightweight with great coverage, and a little goes a long way

Diorskin Forever ($47) Lightweight and luxurious feeling

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream ($39) Great option for hot summer days when you just want a bit of coverage

Almay Wakeup Liquid Makeup ($12) Favorite bargain beauty! SPF, lightweight coverage

Diorskin AirFlash ($62) Perfect for serious, long-lasting coverage

Flight-Friendly Beauty

Having just returned from a quick trip to visit with friends and family, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share with you some of my currently beauty favorites for travel. Traveling always offers a great time to experiment with new products since you only need a small amount to get you through a long weekend. For this trip I brought along some old favorites, and a handful of first-timers as well.

Skincare: Bioelements Travel Light for Combination Skin ($35)

This $35 kit is great if you are considering switching skin care lines, but you’re not ready to fully commit. Included in the kit are “preview” sizes of the Decongestant Cleanser, Equalizer (toner), Absolute Moisture, Pumice Peel, and Oil Control Sleepwear (my favorite nighttime moisturizer).

Haircare: Fekkai Advanced Travel Faves Brilliant Glossing ($43)

This Fekkai travel kit is definitely a splurge, but a worthy one to say the least. I have tried (and love) Fekkai’s glossing line. The fragrance is delicious and the shampoo, conditioner and serum provide serious smoothing and shine power. The Sheer Hold Hairspray is new to my beauty collection, and it doesn’t disappoint. Yes, the price on this travel kit is up there, but every once in a while a splurge here or there is completely acceptable, and even healthy. :)

Hairstyling: Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable Weightless Hairspray (price varies)

Always lured to hairspray like a moth to light, I picked up a travel size of this hairspray for our trip. I love light to medium hold when it comes to hairspray, and this is a great option for a lighter hold. (I was unable to find a link to the travel size version, apologies).

Butter London Lippy Fall/Winter 2012 Collection

I really love the idea of matching lip color and nail polish, and it seems Butter London’s successful Lippy line will continue to grow. Butter has released five additional coordinating pairs.  Here is what they have to say:

The matchy-matchy lip and nail trend is here to stay! Inspired by the high-impact lips seen on the catwalks this season, the LIPPY A/W ‘12 collection includes bold pops of color, chic nudes and a vampy hue. The shades are rich and highly pigmented for a look that’s luxe and perfectly on trend!

LIPPYs are now available for $17 each, 3 Free Lacquers are $14 each.
